Back To The Stone Age

Ever since time began
Women have been raped, abused, and tortured
They’ve been called whores and witches,
And have been burnt alive
By their brothers and uncles
When they did not conform to the male idea
Of the way women should behave.

Ever since archaic times
Women in different societies
Have had to experience
Being patronised, looked down upon, or being controlled.
If they were bright,
They were considered to be a threat
They were then ignored or insulted.
If they were pretty they were likened to trophies
To be owned and shown off to other men.

In an ideal world women would succeed
Through hard work and self-determination
However, they learned that this is not always the case
They discovered that in order to be recognised by the world
As equal to men and worthy of respect,
They had to work harder,
They had to shout louder,
And some of them learned to use their looks, their personality and guile.

Fortunately, in many countries of today,
Women have come a long way,
They no longer have to prove their worth,
And they are respected and recognised
As important members of human society

This is now the Age of Aquarius,
The dawning of the “New Age”,
The Age of New Beginnings and Awareness.
But sadly, this is not so in a country like Burma,
A country ruled for decades by a degenerate army,
Whose young soldiers are contaminated
And completely influenced and indoctrinated
By their dark and brutal generals

These soldiers are like vermin, immoral and deranged;
Who feed on the vulnerable and the helpless
Misguided by a false sense of superiority
And the misconception of the inferiority of ethnic women.

The ethnic women in Burma live in fear night and day
Of being picked on, victimised and sexually abused
If they complain, they are thrown in jail
And they are treated as worthless.
They are preyed on by the Burmese soldiers
Who are trained to be predators and killers
With the caveman mentality
A great detriment to the progress of humankind
Alas, Burma has regressed to the Stone Age!
