Crisis in Shan State

Dear friends,

I would like to introduce a project that I'm helping with, for Shan refugee children who have fled Burma because of war, genocide and poverty, and are now on the border of Northern Thailand. Many of them are ophans and are desperately in need. They need medicine as well as warm clothes and blankets (as winter's approaching). Please have a look at the website, donate as little or as much as you can and share this link with your friends.

Thanks very much. Feraya

Burma Army torches over 300 houses in Shan State

http://www.mizzima.tv/

Accusing villagers of supporting ethnic Shan rebels, the Shan State Army (South), the Burmese Army on July 29 torched 154 houses in Hokhe village, Mai Kai Township leaving over 600 people homeless. Photo – Mizzima. In a bid to eliminate ethnic armed rebels, fighting for self-determination, the Burmese Army uses the four-cuts policy. But the junta’s policy is a nightmare for local villagers forcing them to be displaced or to flee to neighbouring countries.
